Good people!

It was pretty great! They had electricity so I could charge my phone. There were quite a few mosquitoes and annoying campers, but you have to expect that when camping at any campground. The internet was okay, but the wildlife there made up for that. There were cool birds and a variety of other animals. The area around camp was great, they had some nice hiking trails walking distance from the site. Overall great experience.

Anyways, it is clear the owner and his staff care more about receiving $3 for showers than prosecuting perverts. They placed a security camera outside the bath house facing the money box for the showers; yet when asked to handle a perverted trespasser, they did nothing.. did not look at the security footage, did not contact the police, nothing. SHAME ON YOU, BASS HARBOR CAMPGROUND.

If you get there by 0700 to 0800 there's free coffee and a "LIARS" club, with several retired service members. They don't double time or know how to do the front leaning rest position but they have the back leaning rest position down pat!

A pervert was caught filming women showering in the bath house, the park hosts and owner arrived and did nothing about it. The owner did not call the sheriff or police, did not detain or get the name of the alleged pervert, did not take his picture, did not bar him from returning to the park...nothing. The owner just let the young man get on his bike and ride out of the park. When angry campers asked the owner if he was going to get the name or picture of the suspect, the owner asked the campers if they had the suspect's name or took his picture. It appears that the owner was more concerned about his reputation and may not have wanted police vehicles in his park; he just wanted the situation to go away quickly. The showers are unisex, adjacent to each other, and have open ceilings. It's easy for someone to stand on the stool located in each shower and get a view into the adjacent shower. The women being filmed noticed the cell phone being held above the wall filming them and shouted out. The suspect locked himself inside the stall he was in until the women threatened to call the police. He came out and apologized but, did not give up his phone. The husband of one of the women took the phone and did a factory reset to erase everything on the phone. The park owner and staff completely mishandled the situation. What's to stop the alleged perv from returning to the park and try to film again? The park staff have gotten into emotionally charged shouting matches with individuals who were not registered in the park and did not pay their $3.00/person shower fee the past couple of nights. However, nothing was done when a person who is not registered in the park is caught in the act of filming women showering. We will never return to this park and anyone who stays here in the future should look carefully to make sure that they, or their children, are not being filmed while showering.

Best place to take a shower if you stay and National Park campground, which as a rule don't have any. The "other" place is coin operated!

Cut to yesterday: I was showering in one of the campground bath houses, and I heard the woman in the stall next to me yell that there was someone filming her with their cellphone. We caught the young man and brought him to management at the campground. What did they do with him? They let the kid ride off into the sunset without taking any of his information. When the owner of the campground was asked if he was going to do anything about it, he was sarcastic and defensive and clearly had no regard for the victim or the safety of the rest of his paying campers.

Cleanest bathrooms and showers I've ever seen! Sites are a little small. Good family camping!

Perv filming women showering; park owner did nothing

Meanwhile, the previous two nights, I could hear a management person harassing a man, his wife, and child for paying only $1.50 for their showers. Management was understandably annoyed that these people did not pay the fair share for their showers; however, the management person continued to yell at the man for approximately 10 minutes, calling him a liar and a thief and saying he wished he had a camera to take pictures of the family to post on the bath house walls... I guess as a shaming tactic...? Kind of strange. The next day, again, I heard this management person telling random campers the story, which I found to be super unprofessional. I also heard him harassing people, aggressively asking if they were visitors and if they had paid their showering fees. Keep in mind, my campsite is about 40 ft away from the bath house and I could hear each one of these conversations taking place.

Bass Harbor Campground had the potential to be such a wonderful place, but on numerous occasions, management has proven to be extremely unprofessional. Let me start by saying that ANYONE can come to this campground and shower, as long as they pay a $3 fee. They do not have to register with the campground; they simply walk onto the property, put $3 into a box and walk right into the bath house.
